Our Business Foundation Year will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to successfully meet the challenges of our business degree programmes. This one-year full-time course is integrated with a further three-year BSc degree, and will build your understanding of the business principles. Successful completion of this Foundation Year guarantees progression to one of our business degrees at the University of Southampton Malaysia and many more at the University of Southampton UK.

    Assoc. Professor Dr. Md Hamid Uddin received his Ph.D. degree in Finance from the National University of Singapore and taught at the same institution. He also taught at the University of Dhaka, Prince Sultan University, the University of Sharjah, and Taylor's University before joining the University of Southampton Malaysia. Dr. Hamid held several key administrative roles in the past. For example, he was the Director of the Doctoral Programme at Taylor's University Malaysia. At the University of Sharjah UAE, he was a member of the college council for the College of Business Administration; he also served in several important committees such as curriculum development, study plans, and academic research. Dr. Hamid is an active researcher who supervised several Ph.D. students, implemented research projects, and published widely within the broader disciplinary area covering Finance, Accounting, and Economics.

    Dr. Joe Lo Ying Tuan is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southampton Malaysia. His research interests are in the area of service quality, relationship marketing, branding, and emotions, where his papers are published in peer-reviewed international journals. Joe holds a first-class honours degree in Marketing from University Teknologi Malaysia, at which he later attained his PhD in Management. Prior to joining the University of Southampton, he taught a range of business management and marketing subjects at Sunway College Johor Bahru and Victoria University. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM), and a member of The Global Inside Sales.

    Dr. Lau Teck Chai is an Associate Professor with Southampton Business School. Previously he was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Accountancy and Management, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. He obtained his BSc in Business Administration (Decision Science and Financial Management) from University of Montana, USA, MBA (Strategic Management) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Doctor of Business Administration (Marketing) from Southern Cross University, Australia. In Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, he had served as Coordinator, Head of Programme (PhD and MPhil), Head of Programme (MBA and MBA (Corporate Governance)), Head of Department (Management) and Head of Department (International Business). Dr. Lau is a prolific researcher and had published extensively in books, book chapters, international journals and conference proceedings. Many of the published papers are indexed in Clarivate Analytics and SCOPUS, and widely cited internationally.
